Surface-mount convertors supply the point of load
Power-One has added a second series of products to its Nex family of POL convertors.

Power-One has added a second series of products to its Nex family of POL convertors. The latest 5A YNM, 10A YNL and 16A YNS nonisolated DC/DC convertors are optimised for operation from a 3.0 to 5.5V DC IBA bus. These maXyz intermediate bus architecture (IBA) compatible products are designed and manufactured by di/dt, a Power-One Company.
The Nex Family combines industry-standard footprints and trim equations with enhanced features and improved electrical and thermal performance.
These SMD convertors are available in 20.3 x 11.4 x 6.3 and 33 x 13.5 x 8mm packages.
The YNL products offer fixed outputs from 0.9 to 3.3V DC.
The YMM and YNS products provide programmable outputs from 0.75 to 3.3V DC, facilitating the use of one part number for multiple applications.
Benchmarked with a 3.3V DC output at 85C ambient temperature, all three series deliver their full-rated output current using only natural convection cooling.
Other features include remote on/off, output voltage adjust pin, remote sense, no minimum load requirements, startup into prebiased outputs to facilitate sequencing, input undervoltage lockout, thermal shutdown, and overcurrent protection.

"These products extend the range of choices for high-power-density nonisolated IBA products in standard footprints with superior performance and quality at competitive prices".
In quantities of 1000 pieces, the YNM, YNL, and YNS products are priced at $9.50, $13.00 and $16.00, respectively.

The convertors are shipped in tape-and-reel packing to facilitate automatic handling and pick-and-place assembly.
