PCTEL has announced the commercial availability of a new SeeGull CDMA/EV-DO scanner solution for the 450MHz frequency band. PCTEL's CDMA/EV-DO 450 scanner solution addresses the drive testing and RF measurement needs of wireless carriers who are deploying CDMA/EV-DO network solutions in the old NMT450 frequency bands in Scandinavia, in other parts of Europe as well as in Asia. The PCTEL SeeGull CDMA/EV-DO 450 scanner offers carriers simultaneous RF measurement collection for both CDMA and EV-DO networks.
This enables the carrier to map out both voice and data coverage and to better plan and optimise their networks.
Experience in other frequency bands has shown that when CDMA and EV-DO networks are deployed together, they need to be measured and optimised separately for maximum performance.
'We are pleased to be able to respond to the market demand for 450MHz variants of our popular CDMA and EV-DO scanner solutions', said Luis Rugeles, Director of Marketing and Product Management for PCTEL's RF Solutions Group.
With most 450MHz carriers deploying both CDMA and EV-DO in the same service areas, a solution that offers the ability to simultaneously measure RF from both air interfaces greatly reduces the time and effort needed to optimise the network.
In addition, simultaneous data collection simplifies troubleshooting issues related to the interaction between CDMA and EV-DO networks', added Rugeles.
PCTEL's SeeGull product line includes scanner solutions covering all the major wireless technologies as well as indoor solutions and a WCDMA transmitter for indoor coverage planning.
The accuracy and reliability of SeeGull measurements makes this data ideal as inputs for use in propagation management, frequency and cell planning applications.
The product is available globally and is sold directly or integrated within many of the leading drive test solutions.
