New SeeGull LX dual-mode scanning receivers provide simultaneous RF measurements for carriers who are migrating from 2.5G to 3G. PCTEL's dual mode receiver solutions address migration from GSM to WCDMA (UMTS) networks and CDMA to EVDO networks. Leveraging the high-speed SeeGull LX platform, these scanning receivers help wireless operators meet their network coverage, capacity and quality objectives as they deploy overlay networks and manage the transition to 2.5G and 3G.

The GSM/WCDMA dual-mode receiver delivers the combined features and functionality of the SeeGull LX WCDMA and GSM scanning receivers, including: a built-in spectrum analyser; RSSI, BSIC, C/I and BCCH Layer 3 messages for GSM; and RSSI, Pilot, Top N, Timeslot, SIR, and Rake Finger count for WCDMA.

The CDMA/EVDO dual-mode receiver incorporates the functionality of the EVDO and CDMA receivers, providing operators with the data they need to operate and optimise both networks.

'PCTEL has responded to the needs of wireless carriers as they transition to 3G while maintaining quality and growing capacity in their legacy voice networks', said Larry Swift, General Manager for PCTEL's RF Solutions Group.

'We are pleased to provide scanner solutions which can collect data on both networks simultaneously and in doing so simplify the RF engineering task'.
