A new compact hardware in the loop (HIL) tester configured for testing body and interior electronic systems will be launched at SAE Convergence in Detroit this October

Pi AutoSim SSC will be welcomed by test engineers looking for a cost-effective solution without needing the full capabilities of a typical powertrain tester. Historically, it has been the powertrain systems of vehicles where the use of sophisticated electronic controls has been most noticeable.

Recently however, there has been an explosion in the complexity and scope of body and interior electronics.

This encompasses many of the common vehicles subassemblies including door systems, seating, instrument clusters and climate control.

As the sophistication and complexity has risen, so have the demands of testing such systems.

Pi AutoSim has a well established pedigree in the testing of powertrain systems, which typically have a large number of I/O signals.

However, many body control applications do not have such large I/O requirements and a lower cost solution, with a reduced I/O capability, together with a smaller physical size may be appropriate.

In these situations, the new Pi AutoSim SSC is the perfect solution.

The new system is a scalable automotive testing solution, ideally suited to body and interior systems.

It provides a true hardware-in-the-loop test tool which supports both open- and closed-loop models.

It is fully software compatible with the Pi AutoSim ASC and hardware compatible with the full range of proven Pi AutoSim I/O boards.

Users can import models directly from Matlab Simulink or create them in C/C++.

The system can be rack mounted or used free-standing, the cased version measuring 211 x 520 x 400mm, and weighing 15kg.

It is fully compliant with FCC and CE requirements.
