Pelikon has won a contract to supply the backlights to the fully functional remote control for a major satellite radio service provider for the home

Universal Electronics (UEI), Pelikon's US customer of five years, was chosen to supply the remote control. The deal will open up Pelikon's flexible pSEL display technology to a rapidly growing US market for digital radio players. UEI selected Pelikon's pSEL Backlite technology because it delivers a high quality finish with even tones of blue illumination throughout the remote control.

Not only is the pSEL Backlite a suitably bright solution, it is aesthetically more appealing than the traditional red backlighting associated with LEDs.

UEI has extensive experience with the technology versatility offered in Pelikon's pSEL Intuitive Touch Displays (ITDs) and continues to utilise this capability across its product offerings.

'With all the control and display functionality entirely focused in the remote control, it was critical for the backlight solution to offer an elegant look and feel'.

'The bright and even illumination of Pelikon's pSEL Backlite offered just the right hues', said Max Shone, Marketing Manager at Pelikon.

'UEI's choice of Pelikon represents an important win in the consumer electronics arena, and is a great endorsement of the reliability and quality of our technology'.

'Our customers demand best-in-class technology and expect the technology to seamlessly integrate into products that deliver a compelling consumer media entertainment experience'.

'By using Pelikon's pSEL Backlite technology to add a quality finish to the product we are able to meet and exceed our customers' needs', says Ramzi Ammari, Vice President of Product Development at UEI.

'UEI has successfully been using Pelikon's technology in its Kameleon range of universal remote controls for a number of years now'.

'The technology delivers a reliable solution that is attractive and innovative'.
