Philips is delighted to partner with a key player in the automotive market such as Bosch.
This also is excellent news for both partners and the automotive customers, who are all set to benefit from this agreement.
Under the terms and conditions of this agreement Philips grants the automotive system and component manufacturer Bosch the rights to manufacture power-mosfets using the latest generation trench power-MOS process from Philips.
Bosch chose Philips' technology after an in-depth analysis of competing power-MOS technologies.
The latest trench power-MOS technology brings together the benefits of very low on-state resistance, good switching performance and high ruggedness.
It is a great step forward in the move towards power actuator systems.
The access to trench power-MOS underpins the commitment to develop leading-edge automotive products and systems.
The partnership will enable both companies to improve their competitive positions and optimise the performance of the respective end products.
The license agreement also regulates the co-operation between the two companies with regard to the development and production of such semiconductors.
Dual-source supply for automotive manufacturers and system suppliers will be secured by Philips Semiconductors' manufacturing facilities in Hazel Grove, UK, and the wafer manufacturing facilities of Bosch in Reutlingen, Germany.
Philips already has a long-standing association with Bosch and has received the company's award "For quality and outstanding performance as a supplier to the Bosch Group" twice in a row since 1997 for the consistent high quality of Philips Semiconductorsï products, services and cost-efficiency as well as reliability in delivery of its automotive semiconductor solutions.
