Octagon Systems reckons the XE-900 is the fastest SBC available in the new EPIC form factor with a rich family of I/O functions. The XE-900 incorporates the 32bit, low-power Via Eden CPU family with three versions available: 400MHz, 733MHz and 1GHz. It integrates video, serial ports, Ethernet, digital I/O, USB and PC/104 and PC/104-Plus into a single card.

Like all Octagon products, the XE-900 was designed to operate in extreme environments and those where reliability is a major concern.

Targeted applications are transportation, security, military, communications, distributed control and other applications which lack environmental control.

The XE-900 will withstand high shock and vibration, and operates over a -40 to +85C temperature range.

It features: two USB ports; six RS232/422/485 serial ports; 24 lines of bit-programmable, digital I/O with 16 mA sink/source capability; 10/100Base-T Ethernet; CRT and flat panel video; PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expansion; and a conductive cooling system.

The conduction cooling system eliminates the need for a fan, even at 1GHz.

The companion XE-900 OS Embedder kits are available for Linux 2.6, and Windows XP.

These kits are a combination of hardware and software for 'instant on' operation of the XE-900.

The single piece price is $795 for the 1GHz, $745 for the 733MHz and $695 for the 400MHz, each with volume discounts available.

Delivery is from stock.
