ON to demonstrate products at Electronica 2008
ON Semiconductor will use Electronica 2008 to run live demonstrations of how its products function in automotive, industrial and portable applications.
ON will demonstrate the application of its mixed-signal bridge driver technology in a throttle design and the use of its devices in car-door mirror and HVAC systems.
Visitors will be able to enter a competition to accurately park a remote controlled car, equipped with an ON Semiconductor park-assist sensor, in the shortest time.
Industrial motor control demonstrations will be based on the ON Semiconductor range of mixed-signal motor driver ICs, which feature integrated networking.
One will show a LIN-enabled device controlling three motors on a LIN network and another will illustrate CAN- and I2C alternatives.
These demonstrations will illustrate the simplicity of networking and features such as stall detection and automatic reset function.
Demonstrations for portable applications will include a display and lighting subsystem that shows how the NCP5890 lighting management IC controls LED lighting in devices such as mobile phones.
The device will control white backlighting LEDs and RGB LEDs, highlighting its ability to provide LED dimming and audio modulated lighting responses.
ON Semiconductor will also demonstrate its NCP5680 flash LED driver IC in a power management subsystem where this device, in conjunction with a super-capacitor (supercap), functions as a peak load delivery IC.
It will drive two high-current LEDs and Class D stereo audio amplifiers, illustrating how it can reduce power.
Another demonstration will compare the power efficiency of two identical desk lamps, one with an incandescent bulb and one with an LED and ON Semiconductor LED Driver.
A prototype 60W green power supply for an LCD monitor will show how PSU designers can use ON Semiconductor technology to conserve power.
ON Semiconductor will also have an audio subsystem demonstrator based on its Belasigna 250+ ultra-low-power audio processor.
This demonstration will highlight key functions, including voice enhancement, noise cancellation, bass enhancement and dynamic range processing.
