Triacs come in isolated packages

Latest triacs are ideal for industrial and control applications where isolation voltage is critical and safety is a primary concern.

ON Semiconductor has expanded its high performance triac portfolio with the introduction of 12 new devices with power ratings of 8, 12 and 16A and gate trigger current (Igt) levels of 35 and 50mA.

The BTAxxxx series of devices are ideal for industrial and control applications where isolation voltage is critical and safety is a primary concern.

"The new BTAxxx triacs from ON Semiconductor represent the company's entry into the isolated package market for thyristors, building on its long history in supplying SCR's and triacs", said Gary Straker, ON Semiconductor Director of the Protection and Control business unit.

Both the BTAxxx and nonisolated equivalent, BTBxxx series, use the latest silicon and package designs that optimised die area and package construction improving device performance resulting in the release of high performance devices at a competitive price.

The new BTA08-600BW3G, BTA08-800BW3G, BTA12-600BW3G, BTA12-800BW3G, BTA16-600BW3G, BTA16-800BW3G, BTA08-600CW3G, BTA08-800CW3G, BTA12-600CW3G, BTA12-800CW3G, BTA16-600CW3G, BTA16-800CW3G triac devices from ON Semiconductor provide best-in-class isolation performance, high Igt for snubberless designs, excellent dV/dt for improved noise immunity and three quadrant operation.

Soon to be released product line expansion will include sensitive gate and four-quadrant operation.

These devices are available in an Isolated TO220 package.

The BTAxxx are priced at US $0.45 for the 8A version, $0.47 for the 12A and $0.54 for the 16A version per unit for 1000-unit quantities.
