Expanded facility is expected to significantly increase production volumes by 2010 and create a number of engineering and other value-added positions in the factory.

ON Semiconductor is set to expand its production facility in the Philippines.

Construction of an additional building to adjoin the existing 20,800m2 facility will begin later this year.

The expanded facility is expected to significantly increase production volumes by 2010 and create a number of engineering and other value-added positions in the factory.

"Our factory in the Philippines strategically contributes to ON Semiconductor by producing power management devices for computing, portable and consumer applications that are at the core of the company's market strategy", said Keith Jackson, ON Semiconductor President and CEO, at the groundbreaking ceremony in Carmona.

The company's Philippine factory has consistently increased its production volume over the last five years and taken on responsibility for a variety of global and regional functions for the corporation.

"The workforce in and around Carmona provides the technically educated and highly skilled engineers and workers ON Semiconductor needs to ensure the successful operation of expanded factory and business operations in the Philippines", said Richard Cohen, ON Semiconductor Philippines President and General Manager.

"ON Semiconductor extends its appreciation to the Philippine government for the timely approval of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, the proclamation of President Gloria Arroyo of the land area where the factory is located as a special economic zone, and the assistance provided by PEZA Director General Lilia de Lima".
