Power laboratory to develop efficient and energy-saving power solutions for LCD, plasma and CRT TVs.

ON Semiconductor Has set up a joint power laboratory with China's Hisense Electric Company to develop efficient and energy-saving power solutions for LCD, plasma and CRT TVs.

ON Semiconductor also won the Best Power Solution Supplier Award from Hisense Group in recognition of its technology, quality and service.

The new lab further demonstrates ON Semiconductor's commitment to provide energy-saving power solutions to indigenous customers in China.

Located at Hisense's research and development (R and D) centre in Qingdao, Shandong Province, the lab will focus on leveraging ON Semiconductor's strengths, expertise and experience in innovative, energy-saving solutions for Hisense TV products, especially LCD TVs.

ON Semiconductor will assign resident field application engineers to the joint lab to work closely with Hisense product R and D and power supply teams to enable timely TV power solutions to be developed and applied.

"Energy conservation and innovation are important development strategies for the Chinese government", said David Chow, ON Semiconductor Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific.

"ON Semiconductor's effective power solutions address all functional blocks of the power supply and deliver standby power of less than 1W.

Our solutions comply with Chinese and international regulatory standards on power efficiency and standby power consumption".

"In China, ON Semiconductor is a technology partner of China Standard Certification Centre, which certifies energy-efficient products".

"We develop and provide innovative power solutions of different power levels for TV products".

"Through the joint lab, our proven power solutions are expected to help Hisense optimise power efficiency and minimise standby power consumption in their products, meeting consumers' demand for TVs with high performance and low power dissipation".

"The Best Power Solution Supplier Award from Hisense is a great testament to our power management leadership and servicing team", said Chow.

With an annual sales volume in the tens of million units of colour TV sets, Hisense is a top brand in electronics.

Hisense has recognised that power management is one of the key technology enablers for future success.

"Hisense and ON Semiconductor have established a close relationship working together over the last few years", said Huai-gang Jian, General Manager of Product Development at Hisense Electric Company.

"The joint power lab will bring both companies even closer together to develop innovative, energy-efficient power solutions for TVs that meet, or even exceed, increasingly stringent domestic and international regulatory standards".

"This will help sharpen Hisense's competitive edge in both the domestic and global markets".
