MOSFET driver makes the top 10
Electronic Products China magazine has presented ON Semiconductor with a "Top 10 DC/DC 2005" award for its NCP4330 MOSFET driver.
Electronic Products China (EPC) magazine has presented ON Semiconductor with a "Top 10 DC/DC 2005" award for its NCP4330 MOSFET driver, which delivers improved efficiency when implemented in forward convertors most commonly found in ATX and high-power switch mode power supplies (SMPS).
This is the third consecutive year that ON Semiconductor has won the award from EPC.
The NCP4330 houses a dual MOSFET driver intended to be used as a companion chip in AC/DC or DC/DC multi-output postregulated power supplies.
Being directly fed by the secondary AC signal, the device minimises power dissipation while reducing the surrounding part count.
Furthermore, the implementation of an N-channel MOSFET gives the NCP4330-based applications a significant advantage in terms of efficiency.
"To have our device recognised by a leading magazine such as Electronic Products China for the third year running is a testament to our power management leadership", said Hemen Cheng, Business Director of ON Semiconductor Analog Products Group for Asia Pacific.
"The NCP4330 MOSFET driver provides a more efficient way to convert a 3.3V output from a 5V power train than commonly used magnetic amplifier control circuits, delivering maximum efficiency for ATX and SMPS power supplies".
EPC - one of China's most authoritative electronics industry trade publications - is a sister publication of the US Electronic Products magazine.
Its annual "Top 10 DC/DC" award is given to a range of DC/DC power products, including ICs, following a three-stage judging process that includes the publication's editorial staff, readers' votes and an expert judging panel.
Chip manufacturers' DC products were evaluated against a number of categories including innovation, price-performance, range of applications and quality of engineering.
Each manufacturer's reputation also was taken into consideration.
Jointly sponsored by China's Electronic Industry Publishing House and the US-based IDG, EPC aims to promote the rapid development of China's electronics industry by reporting the latest technologies, products and market trends.
