Chinese award for DC/DC controller
Electronic Products China (EPC) has presented ON Semiconductor it with the Top 10 DC/DC Products Award 2003 for its NCP1560 voltage-mode pulsewidth modulation (PWM) DC/DC controller
The NCP1560 is designed for use in telecomms power convertors, control driven synchronous rectification power convertors, high-voltage power modules, and 42V automotive systems. One of China's leading electronics trade publications, EPC also is the organiser of the two-day Power Module Technology conference held this week in Beijing.

This is the second year running that the magazine has organised the conference.
This year, EPC selected the event as a platform to present its first-ever Top 10 DC/DC Product Awards.
"EPC's Top 10 DC/DC Product Award highlights ON Semiconductor's strength in power management and value proposition that we bring to our customers in China", said Peter Wong, ON Semiconductor Vice President of Sales for Greater China.
"We believe that no other controller on the market can offer the same levels of feature integration and performance as the NCP1560".
EPC evaluated chip manufacturers' products against a number of categories including innovation, price-performance, range of applications and how well they were engineered.
The manufacturers' good reputation also was taken into consideration.
The NCP1560 enables highly efficient, isolated DC/DC conversion with minimal external components.
It features several functions not found in competitive parts that help simplify design process and reduce system cost.
For example, the NCP1560 is designed with a control output for the main switch and a second output that can control a synchronous rectifier, an active clamp or a reset switch.
Additionally, the dual control outputs have adjustable overlap delays that prevent simultaneous conduction and facilitate soft switching within various circuit topologies.
Because the device features a high-voltage (21.5 to 150V) startup regulator, fewer external components are required in the system.
After initial startup, this regulator is disabled to reduce power consumption.
ON Semiconductor is an active participant in the Power Module Technology Conference 2003, with two presentations during the proceedings, one on the topic "DC/DC active clamp forward topology", and another on "mosfet integration improves DC/DC conversion efficiency".
