Meritorious performance from N-channel MOSFETs

Continuing the expansion of its portfolio of low-voltage power mosfets for switching and power management applications, ON Semiconductor has released a range of new N-channel devices.
These 24/25V devices are specifically designed for synchronous buck convertor circuits (VRM and VRD) used in servers and desktop computers or in point-of-load (POL) convertors used in networking and telecommunication equipment.
"ON Semiconductor currently is one of the largest global suppliers of mosfets for low-power applications", said Ramesh Ramchandani, ON Semiconductor Vice President and General Manager of Integrated Power Products.
"With plans to further expand its product offerings in this market, ON Semiconductor will continue to support - and drive the design of even more efficient systems".
The new N-channel switching devices feature ON Semiconductor's latest proprietary planar process technology.
This upgrade delivers the industry's best figure of merit (the product of on-resistance and gate charge) for excellent switching behaviour - an improvement of 40% over previous generation devices.
The company's superior planar technology also provides low on-resistance for low conduction losses and an optimised body diode to cut power losses.
These devices provide a total gate charge as low as 8.4nC, an on-resistance as low as 3.7mohm, and a gate voltage rating of 20V for improved ruggedness.
Pricing for the new devices ranges from $0.42 to $0.80 per unit in 10,000 unit quantities.
