Compact relays provide 8kV isolation

Omron's G5Q compact single-pole relay switches up to 10A and features a low power coil to save power supply size and cost. Advanced construction makes the G5Q 44% smaller than its predecessor, yet ensuring withstand impulse voltage of 8kV and achieving UL Class F coil insulation for applications up to 105C ambient temperature rating. Single-pole normally open or single-pole changeover variants are also available.
The G5Q is designed for domestic appliance and HVAC applications to control loads including fans, lights and solenoids in appliances such as ovens, dishwashers, washing machines and similar products.
Maximum switching voltage of 277V AC satisfies a wide range of mains-powered applications.
The component measures 15.8 x 20.3 x 10.3mm, and vented or sealed enclosures are available.
Maximum contact resistance of 100mohm, combined with short operate and release times of 10 and 5ms, respectively, maximises efficiency and extends the device's electrical life expectancy to 200,000 operations at 3A/125V AC.
At 8kV isolation, the G5Q protects circuits from voltage spikes such as a lightning strike.
International approvals include UL508, CSA C22.2 and VDE.
