Five new 10 and 12bit A/D convertors feature the industry's lowest power consumption and deliver excellent dynamic performance.

Five new 10 and 12bit A/D convertors feature the industry's lowest power consumption and deliver excellent dynamic performance These ADCs meet the stringent performance requirements of a variety of markets such as digital TV, high-definition TV receivers, basestation transceivers, communications receivers, data acquisition systems, medical imaging and consumer video

"National's new high-speed ADCs will enable designers to reduce power consumption, and improve the performance and reliability of their systems overall", said Andrew Jue, Marketing Director for National's Data Conversion Systems product group.

"It is National's world-class CMOS manufacturing technology that enables us to produce ADCs with significant power savings".

The ADC10080, ADC10065 and ADC10040 consume only 78mW at 80Msample/s, 68mW at 65Msample/s, and 55mW at 40Msample/s, respectively, making them the lowest power ADCs in the industry.

These products feature a precision 1.2V internal reference, eliminating the need for an external reference.

The differential inputs on these ADCs provide a full-scale selectable input swing of 2, 1.5 or 1V peak-peak, allowing flexibility in board design.

These ADCs also have a wide 400MHz -3dB bandwidth, enabling their use in high-IF applications such as communications receivers.

All three products are pin-compatible.

The ADC12020 and ADC12010 are pin-compatible with National's existing 12bit ADCs: the ADC12040, ADC12L063 and ADC12L066.

This pin compatibility provides a straightforward migration path for designers, enabling reuse of existing printed circuit board designs on various platforms.

In addition, these 5V ADCs consume only 185mW at 20Msample/s and 160mW at 10Msample/s, respectively.

National's ADC10080 is available in 28-lead TSSOP packaging and is priced at $8.77.

The ADC10065 is available in 28-lead TSSOP packaging and is priced at $6.56.

The ADC10040 is available in 28-lead TSSOP packaging and is priced at $5.42.

The ADC12010 is available in 32-lead LQFP packaging and is priced at $5.85.

The ADC12020 is available in LQFP packaging and is priced at $8.57.

All prices are in 1000-unit quantities.
