National Semiconductor is developing an advanced line of I/O products by integrating its SafeKeeper security technology into chips that are already used on PC motherboards.

These products also support an industry-backed effort to create new security standards for PC platforms.

"With all of the heightened concerns about hackers, viruses and compromised security systems, PC makers and consumers are looking for hardware and software solutions they can trust", said Jonathan Levy, General Manager of National's Advanced PC Division.

"National developed SafeKeeper technology, and joined the newly formed Trusted Computing Group, to increase the momentum for industry standards in the area of safe-and-secure computing.

In our view, security should be a checklist item in every PC".

National is a long-time proponent of networking, security and manageability solutions.

In the current business environment, enhanced security and trust are two of the key ingredients that are expected to drive growth in the PC market.
