National Semiconductor has two new high-performance, synchronous switching regulator controllers with extremely low output voltage capability to power the latest FPGA, MCU and DSP cores.
National Semiconductor has two new high-performance, synchronous switching regulator controllers with extremely low output voltage capability to power the latest FPGA, MCU and DSP cores Operating from a 5 to 16V input and regulating down to as low as 0.6V, the two new 2MHz switching controllers are designed to provide synchronous voltage conversion for applications like set-top boxes, ADSL and cable modems, hard disk drives and large LCD displays where 2 to 25A are needed

World's smallest multifunction supervisory ICs
National Semiconductor has announced a family of supervisory ICs with a variety of factory-programmable features that can be configured in hundreds of possible combinations.
They are also ideal for general-purpose step-down voltage conversion in line-powered systems.
"National is continually expanding its switching regulator portfolio to address the evolving need for more efficient power, higher power density and lower output voltages", said Johan Hedman, product marketing manager for National's Power Management Group in Europe.
"The industry's lowest band gap in our new LM2727 and LM2737 switching regulators gives our customers the power they need, when they need it".
Key features of National's new LM2727 and LM2737 switching regulator controllers include: 0.6V internal bandgap, which allows output voltages from 85% percent input down to 0.6 V; switching frequency from 50kHz to 2MHz, which allows users to tailor the system for best size and efficiency; synchronous conversion, which enables up to 95% conversion efficiency in low duty cycle or low output voltage conditions; and a TSSOP-14 package, which, when combined with the 2MHz clock and tiny, minimal external components, results in the world's highest power density (watts per PCB area) solution.
The LM2737 shares the same rich feature set as the LM2727 but does not have overvoltage or undervoltage protection.
The LM2727 and LM2737 switching regulator controllers are available for shipment now.
Housed in a TSSOP-14 package, the two devices are priced at $1.25 each in 1000 quantities.
