National Semiconductor has announced the DP83862, a low-cost, highly integrated dual-port 10/100/1000 physical layer transceiver.
What used to be a two-chip solution is now a single-chip solution.
The single-chip LM4854 saves our customers both component and board space costs".
The LM4854 integrates a 1.9W mono speaker amplifier and an 85mW stereo headphone amplifier for use in 3 and 5V systems requiring a mono speaker output and a headphone output.
This device has a fast 0.1ms turn-on and turn-off time.
Switching from mono BTL to an SE headphone configuration is accomplished using a headphone sense pin.
National's LM4854 features advanced pop and click suppression circuitry for quieter turn-on and turn-off.
This device also eliminates output coupling capacitors, saving component count and board space.
Other features include an active-low micropower shutdown mode, an "instant-on" low-power standby mode, and thermal shutdown protection circuitry.
The LM4854 is available now in 12-bump micro SMD, 14-pin LLP and 14-pin TSSOP packaging, and is priced at $1.10 in 1000-unit quantities.
