A new high-voltage laser-discharge ceramic capacitor providessuperior functionality in circuits with high peak current andrepetition rates. The capacitors are ideal for gas lasers, highenergy pulsed power supplies, DC power supplies, lightningarresters and X-ray power supplies. Morgan Electro Ceramics'laser discharge ceramic capacitor uses a strontium-titanate-baseddielectric material, which exhibits a negligiblepiezoelectric/electrostrictive effect.
This allows it to be usedin high-peak-current/high-shot-life applications, including thosefound in gas lasers and other high-energy pulsed power systems.It also offers low dielectric loss resulting in low self-heatingwhen used in high-power/high-repetition-rate circuits.Additionally, the high breakdown strength/high permittivity ofthe material allows for storage of high energy density per unitvolume.
This high energy density is maintained over the ratedworking voltage and temperature range by the dielectric'slow capacitance/voltage coefficient and low temperaturecoefficient.
