Monolithic Power Systems has released the MP2309 and MP2307 23V synchronous step-down regulators. With output current ratings of 1 and 3A, respectively, the MP2309 and MP2307 are pin compatible with the 2A MP2305, forming a power management solution that can easily scale from 1 to 3A without circuit board redesign. All products feature a wide operating input voltage range of 4.75 to 23V.

The output voltage is adjustable from 0.9 to 20V using external resistors.

In addition, the footprint of associated external components is the same for all three products.

These attributes allow design engineers to focus on custom logic design with the confidence that their board design will be able to accommodate system power management needs in the most cost efficient manner.

The MP2309 and MP2307 feature internal synchronous power FETs and fixed switching frequency of 340kHz resulting in up to 95% efficiency.

Inrush startup current is controlled using the externally adjustable soft-start feature.

These converters are the smallest high voltage synchronous step-down regulators on the market, each fitting within an 8-pin SOIC package.

In shutdown, the MP2309 only draws 1uA maximum.

The MP2307 reduces quiescent current to 0.3uA in shutdown.

Both devices offer the same set of safety features including thermal shutdown, short circuit and undervoltage lockout protection.

The MP2309 and MP2307 are designed to operate in the -40 to +85C ambient temperature range.

Samples and evaluation boards are available from stock immediately.

Pricing for the MP2309 and MP2307 in 1000 piece quantities is $1.51 and $2.04, respectively. Request a free brochure from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS)....
