Monolithic Power Systems has released two new fixed output voltage options for its MP2104 1.7MHz synchronous step-down regulator. Fixed output voltage options include 1.5 and 1.8V in addition to the previously released adjustable output version which is capable of supplying output voltages as low as 0.6V. Intended for portable applications, the regulator has wide input voltage range of 2.5 to 6V suitable for supporting operation from one Li-ion cell or up to four alkaline, NiMH or NiCd cells.

The MP2104 features onboard synchronous power FETs and requires as few as three external components for proper operation due to its internal loop compensation.

This feature combined with a high 1.7MHz switching frequency and SOT23 package results in one of the smallest 600mA synchronous step-down solutions on the market.

In shutdown, the MP2104 draws a maximum of 1uA thereby minimising battery drain.

In addition, 100% duty cycle and up to 95% efficiency extend battery life even further.

Internal safety mechanisms of the MP2104 include thermal shutdown, short circuit and undervoltage lockout protection.

The MP2104 is designed to operate in the -40 to +85C ambient temperature range.

Samples and evaluation boards are available from stock immediately.

Pricing for the MP2104 begins at $1.08 in 1000 piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS)....
