Just launched by Monolithic Power Systems (MPS), the MP1570 monolithic synchronous buck regulator integrates 100mohm MOSFETs to provide 3A continuous output for applications including point-of-load conversion in distributed power systems, preregulation for linear regulators and notebook computers. Available in an 8-pin SOIC package, the step-down convertor requires very few extra components, resulting in a very compact system solution. The MP1570 has a wide input range of 4.75 to 23V, and the output is adjustable from 1.22 to 20V.

Current mode control provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limit, and an adjustable soft-start feature prevents inrush current at turn-on.

In shutdown mode, the output is actively discharged by transferring energy in the output capacitor to the input capacitor, dropping supply current to 1uA.

Thermal enhancement of the package helps boost the MP1570's efficiency to 95%. Request a free brochure from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS)....
