NetLogic Microsystems has purchased the entire suite of Monterey planning, prototyping, and physical implementation products for its next generation of processors

NetLogic Microsystems has purchased the entire suite of Monterey planning, prototyping, and physical implementation products for their next generation of classification and forwarding processors (CFPs) and network search engines (NSEs). NetLogic cited a number of reasons for choosing Monterey.

First, the tools are easy to learn and to use; NetLogic engineers were up and running and doing productive work shortly after the tools were installed.

Secondly, Monterey provides comprehensive support for the most advanced process technologies and libraries.

Thirdly, Monterey offers a comprehensive solution; there is no need to purchase additional point tools and write integration scripts.

Finally, Monterey has strong relationships with leading library vendors and foundries.

"NetLogic offers some of the fastest, highest capacity network search engines available in the market today.

In order to maintain our leadership position, we needed a complete in-house physical implementation flow", said Varad Srinivasan, CTO at NetLogic Microsystems.

"While we already had a solution for our full-custom circuitry, Monterey provided us with the digital logic implementation flow that enabled us to do productive design work in a short period of time.

Our decision was also influenced by Monterey's ability to handle 0.13um processes".

"NetLogic is an ideal customer for Monterey because they are designing large, fast chips, but they can't afford to spend a lot of time integrating and learning to use a multitude of point tools to finish the physical implementation", said Dave Reed, vice president of marketing at Monterey.

"We can get our customers up and running and doing real design work faster than any of our competitors, and NetLogic is already benefiting from our integrated, streamlined solution".
