New low-cost PCB-mounted relays available in single- or two-pole configurations feature industry-standard footprints and low package height, enabling drop-in cost savings in a wide range of products

New low-cost PCB-mounted relays from Micromark C and CD, available in single-pole or two-pole configurations feature industry-standard footprints and low package height, enabling drop-in cost savings in a wide range of products. In addition to being lead (Pb) free the new Tyco RX-series relays have cadmium (Cd)-free contacts and comply with European RoHS (Removal of Hazardous Substances) regulations scheduled for 2006, allowing them to be designed into all current and future products.

RX-series members include single-pole devices rated at 12 or 16A with normally open or changeover contacts, and two-pole, 8A, changeover relays.

DC and AC coil versions are available for applications from 5-110V DC or 24-230V AC, with reinforced insulation providing 4kV isolation.

This makes the RX-series suitable for a wide range of applications, including domestic appliances, heating controls and emergency lighting.

At five million operations mechanical lifetime, the RX-series has adequate longevity for most environments.

The RX-series compliments the Tyco RT-series, also available from Micromark C and CD, which shares an identical footprint but with lower coil power requirements, higher isolation parameters and a longer mechanical life than the new RX-series.

The RX-series measures 29.0 x 12.7mm, with a low 15.7mm profile identical to the Tyco RT-series.

Pin spacing of 3.5mm for 12A devices, and 5mm pinning for 16A and two-pole 8A relays, also ensures easy drop-in compatibility with industry standard relays including the RT-series and RP-series.

Operating temperature ranges for the RX-series are -40 to +85C for single-pole DC-coil versions, and -40 to +70C for other versions.

The RX-series carries UL and VDE approvals and is available in either an opaque or transparent cover.
