Mistral has introduced Curtiss Wright's SPMC/DPMC-214, a compliant PMC mezzanine module designed to offload the host card from the detailed handling of CANBus or MilCAN data communications protocols.

The SPMC/DPMC-214 is targeted at the aerospace and defence sector.

It is designed to speed up and ease the integration of the CANbus and MilCAN data communications protocols into embedded systems deployed in harsh environments.

Offloading the host card from the detailed handling of CANBus or MilCAN protocols ensures the PMC-214 provides more processing capacity on the hosting card for other applications.

The card is available in air- and conduction-cooled versions.

It provides four CANBus ports or four MilCAN ports along with utility bus (optional) and 16 channels of TTL I/O, using dual ColdFire MCF5485 processors.

It uses a 32-bit 33-MHz PCI bus and 5V at 1.2A.

The SPMC/DPMC-214 is interoperable with a wide range of host and carrier cards that provide support for PMC cards.

Software support includes BSPs for popular operating systems such as BSP Support VxWorks 5.5.x/Tornado 2.2.1, VxWorks 6.3/6.5 Workbench 2.x, Linux and Windows.
