MIPS Technologies has appointed Jack Browne as its new vice president of worldwide sales

Browne, 49, brings more than 25 years of direct industry experience to his new position, drawing from past roles in sales, marketing and engineering, primarily in Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector. As the head of Motorola's 68000 marketing team, he helped establish the 68000 as a leading 32bit embedded architecture in the 1980s and early 1990s, with revenues topping $500 million.

In the 1990s, he was instrumental in gaining market share for PowerPC processors and growing overall revenue to $1.3 billion dollars through such roles as vice president of North American sales, vice president of the computer segment, and vice president of operations and vice president of marketing for Motorola's High Performance division.

In 2000, Browne joined Wyle Electronics, which was subsequently acquired by Arrow Electronics, where he was responsible for growing its embedded processor, IP and design services businesses.

In December 2001, Browne joined MIPS Technologies as director of market development.

As an acknowledged industry spokesman, he has written more than 50 papers for industry publications and presented at more than 30 industry conferences.

He holds a BSEE degree from the University of Texas.

"Jack Browne brings an absolutely extraordinary base of embedded processor business experience to his new role at MIPS Technologies", said John Bourgoin, chairman and CEO of MIPS Technologies.

"His technical knowledge, his demonstrated skill with customers, and his successful track record of leading worldwide sales organisations will be key factors in leading the MIPS sales organisation to new levels of success.

I am delighted that MIPS Technologies continues to attract such highly talented people to important roles".
