Genesis Microchip will use a range of 32bit MIPS cores in SoCs for a variety of next-generation consumer display products

Genesis Microchip has licensed a range of 32bit MIPS cores to drive the development of a variety of next-generation consumer display products. Under the licence agreement with MIPS, the company has access to a variety of cores ranging from the entry-level MIPS32 4KE Pro family to the popular 24K Pro cores.

'As standards continue to evolve, and consumers demand more performance and functionality from their flat-panel TVs and other consumer devices, our industry is challenged to deliver increasingly sophisticated products to market', says Behrooz Yadegar, Senior Vice President, Product Development at Genesis Microchip.

'The efficiency and flexibility of the MIPS cores, coupled with outstanding ecosystem support, allow us to design superior, cost-efficient SoCs that contribute to our customers' success in this competitive environment'.

'As a global provider of cutting-edge video processing technologies, Genesis Microchip is well positioned to capture a significant share of the burgeoning flat-panel display market', says Brad Holtzinger, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at MIPS Technologies.

'We're delighted to extend our relationship and excited to play an integral role in the development of MIPS-based designs that will reinforce our position as the established leader in the digital living room'.

MIPS-verified cores provide SoC designers with a tailored solution for high-performance consumer applications.

Leveraging the CorExtend capability, the Genesis Microchip development team can add their own instructions and functionality to MIPS-based SoCs - lowering development costs and greatly accelerating their time to market.
