Mentor Graphics has upgraded its Board Station family, including enhanced support for concurrent design, additional operating system support and improved system integration and performance

With EN2001.1 a designer can take advantage of the new HDLWrite product, enabling board-level digital verification. The Board Station family offers advanced design features, data management and library capabilities for large sophisticated design teams, leveraging data and processes from multiple locations in a global organisation.

'These comprehensive enhancements to our market-leading PCB design tool suite build on its established strengths in supporting concurrent design, data management and system customisation requirements of the enterprise environment', said Henry Potts, general manager and vice president, Systems Design Division, Mentor Graphics.

'Many of these improvements are in direct response to requests made by the Board Station customer base.

EN2001.1 will provide Board Station and Board Station RE users with productivity gains through superior performance for complex designs'.

Board Architect is the schematic capture tool central to the system design process of Board Station.

EN2001.1 expands on the power of Board Architect through enhanced support for concurrent board process, allowing simultaneous design activity in the schematic and the layout tool - increasing productivity and shortening time-to-market.

Board Architect also features enhanced variant support for optimal product configuration and manufacturing support.

EN2001.1 also includes productivity and usability enhancements to Board Station RE, powered by Mentor's industry-leading AutoActive technology for PCB placement and routing.

The AutoActive environment combines interactive and automatic routing within a single design environment.

Some of the key new features to Board Station RE in EN2001.1 are improved interactive routing capabilities for the routing of large pin count nets, and faster performance for advanced design features such as dynamic area fills.

HDLWrite gives the Board Station family users the ability to quickly generate Verilog or VHDL from their schematic to verify the digital performance of a design through the use of the Mentor Graphics ModelSim tool.

HDLWrite significantly speeds the process for generating HDL from the schematic for both hierarchical and flat designs, allowing rapid turnaround on design changes during circuit debug cycles.

To provide users with maximum interoperability, EN2001.1 is certified for use on the following operating systems: Solaris 2.6, 2.7, 2.8; HPUX 10.2, 11.0, 11i (11.11), and Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.

EN2001.1 is available immediately.

Board Station PCB layout pricing starts at $28,000.

HDLWrite pricing starts at $4,000.

Board Station customers with maintenance contracts in place will automatically receive the EN 2001.1 upgrade on CD.
