The BlueWiz1.2 Bluetooth baseband controller is one of the first BQB-qualified SoC IPs that implements all the mandatory and optional features of the V1.2 specification.

The BlueWiz1.2 Bluetooth baseband controller is one of the first BQB-qualified SoC IPs that implements all the mandatory and optional features of the V1.2 specification, which was adopted in November 2003.

The latest specification has several improvements over V1.1.

These features include adaptive frequency hopping (AFH), faster connections and extended synchronous connection-oriented (eSCO), which allow Bluetooth implementations to co-exist gracefully with other 2.4GHz radios, significantly reduce connection setup times for applications and improve quality of voice transmitted in a noisy environment.

The above enhancements will result in several new applications in Bluetooth technology and better user experience for the end users.

Some of the unique advantages of MindTree's BlueWiz1.2 are optimal channel assessment and classification algorithm; support of transparent mode for SCO and eSCO; power save opportunities during active mode; and support of all packet types.

"BlueWiz1.2 is specially optimised for low power and ease of integration and customisation, providing system-on-chip integrators a qualified and proven solution", said MindTree Consulting Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, R and D Services, Vinod Deshmukh.

"With the BQB certification of BlueWiz1.2, MindTree assures its customers an easy path to qualification of their integrated products", he added.

MindTree has been involved in the implementation of V1.2 specifications from the draft stages, carrying out extensive testing for interoperability.

It has already won customers for its V1.2 implementation.

MindTree's Bluetooth V1.1 implementation has been incorporated into products such as an SoC for wireless handheld devices and Bluetooth protocol test equipment.

MindTree has licensed its Bluetooth IPs to several leading brand names from USA, Europe and Japan.

These have been incorporated in cellphones, computer mice, keyboards and headsets (hands-free).

MindTree's software is shipped as a standard embedded option with major silicon and product vendors.
