Mistletoe Technologies, the developer of the industry's first complete security system-on-a-chip (SoC) featuring VPN, firewall and Denial of Service (DoS) prevention applications in silicon, today announced that Broadweb Corporation, a leading provider of network-based IPS (intrusion prevention systems), has selected Mistletoe's Security SoC products for their Zone Defender line of security products. Broadweb's Zone Defender products will address the growing need in Asian markets, such as greater China, for security and encryption on the LAN to prevent insider attacks and theft of confidential information. Broadweb, emphasizing in the Asian information security marketplace, provides products that enable application-layer protection, including hacker detection and prevention, worm/virus protection, and information security enforcements.
Built with Mistletoe's Security SoC solutions, Broadweb unveiled its Gigabit Zone Defender appliances at a recent InfoSecurity conference in Beijing, China.
Through the integration of Mistletoe's Security SoC, Broadweb was able to quickly enter the LAN security market and offer a best-of-breed solution at breakthrough price points.
'The combination of Mistletoe's Security-on-a chip hardware, Gigabit throughput and ease of use software with Enterprise security features drastically reduced our development cycle, saving us 18 months of software development and performance tuning that would have been required by competing solutions' said Phillip Chang, Vice President of Broadweb.
'The single chip solution with integrated software provides an obvious time-to-market advantage over alternative multi-core processor and 3rd party software options'.
Broadweb's Zone Defender products are built to address the need to secure higher bandwidth traffic by introducing appliances combining Enterprise security features with multi-Gigabit throughput, high performance encryption, and Denial of Service prevention.
'Our Security System-on-a-Chip products gave Broadweb immediate entry into the Gigabit LAN security market,' said Som Sikdar, CEO of Mistletoe Technologies.
'This continues to validate our Mistletoe RDX technology and the time-to-market advantages we provide our customers'.
'We see Broadweb's Zone Defender products filling an important need for high performance security products in Asia where adoption of high speed broadband and Gigabit infrastructures is growing rapidly'.
Zone Defender products support over 10,000 encrypted sessions, up to 500,000 concurrent TCP sessions and multi-Gigabit encrypted and unencrypted throughput on the LAN to prevent internal attacks and theft of sensitive data.
Zone Defender will encrypt confidential information for customers in a wide array of industries including government labs, banks, universities and enterprise networks.
These products will be available at the end of the third quarter of 2006.
