Available from Panasonic Electric Works, the RS is the smallest relay in its switching range (as of November 2006) at only 14 x 8.6 x 7mm. Compared with previous generations, the company has achieved a 60% reduction is size while maintaining a 1W at 3GHz switching capacity on a 75ohm system.
HF performance figures are still very respectable, with maximum VSWR of 1.4, and insertion and isolation losses at 3GHz are 0.3 and 30dB, respectively.
The RS relay series is also available as a 'near silent' switching type; these are ideal for applications such as networking were large quantities of relays may be switching concurrently.
With the near silent version having an audible switch of only 30dB, this is as much as 20dB quieter than previous generations such as the RK or RE.
The RS relay can be operated in monostable or latching circuits, with coil options from 3 to 24V DC.
