Package puts IA-32
platform to safety-critical use
A new board support package provides a complete, certifiable solution for mil/aero developers seeking to leverage the IA-32 platform
For years, military customers have been eager to build safety critical applications using Intel's IA-32 architecture. However, no BSPs from RTOS suppliers have offered IA-32 support for D0-178B certifiable solutions. LynuxWorks has changed all this by announcing the first BSP that provides a complete, certifiable solution for mil/aero developers seeking to leverage the IA-32 platform.

With the new board support package (BSP), the LynuxWorks' LynxOS-178 hard real-time, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) operating system offers key features such as time and space partitioning, multiprocess/multithread, open APIs, large RAM support - up to 1Gbyte - and C++ enhancements on the Intel IA-32 architecture.
In addition to featuring a DO-178B level A-certification, LynxOS-178 is also Posix compliant and offers support for the ARINC 653 application executive (APEX), making it an ideal standards-based solution for mil/aero developers seeking to build safety critical, certifiable applications on the Intel IA-32 platform.
A complete toolset including LynuxWorks Luminosity, SpyKer and VisualLynux is available along with the LynxOS-178 BSP.
