Fujitsu Siemens Computers has chosen the LSI Logic MegaRAID Ultra320 PCI-X to power its next-generation Intel-based Primergy S2 tower, rack and economy server platforms

Fujitsu Siemens Computers as the leading European IT provider will integrate LSI Logic MegaRAID technology into existing and new servers in its Primergy S2 product line to provide customers with high-performing server and storage subsystem solutions that meet critical performance and data redundancy requirements.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers' introduction of LSI Logic Ultra320 PCI-X adapters further supplements the existing relationship with design wins for LSI Logic's MegaRAID Ultra320 PCI adapters and RAID on motherboard technology.

"Our continued development of superior RAID and silicon technologies enables us to equip partners like Fujitsu Siemens Computers and their customers with the essential high-performing and robust storage solutions required to manage storage for today's high-end servers and workstations", said John D'Errico, LSI Logic Executive Vice-President of Storage and Communications Components.

"This continued support allows us to bring innovative technologies to market and expand our offering to customers worldwide".

"LSI Logic's advanced RAID software feature set, first-to-market Ultra320 PCI-X SCSI RAID and Ultra320 SCSI silicon technologies, allow us to meet our customers business critical performance and data redundancy requirements for our full range of Primergy S2 servers", said Klaus Kratzer, Vice President Primergy Servers at Fujitsu-Siemens Computers.

"LSI Logic's MegaRAID Ultra320 PCI-X family allows us to address the market's demand for a high-performing, leading-edge server and storage subsystem solutions".

Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Primergy S2 server line includes tower servers, rack mount servers and the Primergy Econel economy server.

Each adapter has a target platform for which it will be initially qualified, but they can be qualified for other systems if required.

The MegaRAID Ultra320-0X zero-channel adapter will address the sub-entry and entry-level server markets requiring state-of-the-art performance and an optimised cost structure for Fujitsu Siemens Computers' next-generation tower servers, which begin shipments this month, and in its rack mount servers.

The MegaRAID Ultra320-2X dual-channel adapter will power all Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Primergy S2 servers.

The MegaRAID Ultra320-4X, the only quad-channel Ultra320 PCI-X adapter on the market, will be integrated into the Fujitsu Siemens Computers entry, midrange and high-end Primergy servers.

LSI Logic has captured over 80% OEM server market share with its Ultra320 SCSI products, based on server market sockets available for design win, and is a leading provider of host-based RAID storage adapter boards.

The company also provides Fibre Channel, Serial Attached SCSI, iSCSI, ATA and Serial ATA component solutions.
