Around 90% of the fuses manufactured by Wickmann are now lead free and the complete product range will be lead free by mid 2005, well in advance of the RoHS Directive compliance deadline.

Around 90% of the fuses manufactured by Wickmann are now lead free and the complete product range will be lead free by mid 2005, well in advance of the RoHS Directive lead-free compliance deadline of July 2006.

Product lines which are now completely compliant include the TR5 and TE5 ranges of subminiature fuses, telecomms interface, short-circuit, module and inrush protectors, surface-mount and resettable fuses.

The company's plants in Germany and China have each been following a comprehensive roadmap to lead-free production, with the most popular devices being processed first.

Commenting on Wickmann's progress, director Dr Matthias Huber said: "With most of our products now lead free, this gives Wickmann a clear lead over the competition".

"Orders can be placed with us in the knowledge that our devices completely meet the compliance criteria".
