Wickmann has expanded its range of overcurrent protection components for telecommunications applications by the introduction of the new lead-free Protector 950.
Packaged in a compact TE5 housing and offering excellent pulse-load capabilities, the 950 features 50A/250V AC breaking capacity, a rated current of 1.6A and a long time-lag characteristic.
The new device is ideally suited for protecting a variety of telecoms' systems and networking equipment.
The special melting element (patent pending) of the Protector 950 eliminates electrical variations caused by high pulse loads, a major advantage over conventional protectors where the strong magnetic fields produced under pulse conditions can cause mechanical displacement of the melting element.
This can lead to an increase in current rating, imparing the protection.
Measuring only 8.5 x 4.0 x 8.5mm, the Protector 950 is moulded in brown thermoplastic polyamide with two tin-plated copper round pins.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +85C and soldering heat resistance 260C for 10s.
Available in directly solderable and plug-in versions with shockproof case, the device is supplied on tape and ammopack, 1400 pieces per unit.
