Labtech has purchased the assets of Filtronic Components' microwave components design and manufacturing facility located in Milton Keynes UK

The purchase allows Labtech, which employs 100 people, to extend its range of microwave manufacturing services to existing and new customers who operate in the defence, satellite comms and telecommunications markets. The Milton Keynes facility will be known as Labtech Microwave, which will be offering a range of passive and active microwave components, low noise and multi-octave amplifiers, multi-octave pin switches, DLVAs and multi-octave detectors.

The company's existing Presteigne operation, will become Labtech Circuits, which will continue to manufacture microwave PCBs, MMIC packaging solutions and RF machining.

Labtech will also be offering, from the Milton Keynes facility, thin film microwave circuit manufacture, box-build assembly and build-to-print microwave module assembly and test.

'An expanded offering will open many new opportunities not previously accessible', said Labtech's Managing Director, Dr Brian Mazonas.

'A turnkey capability yielding a higher level of added value service for our customers will consolidate Labtech as a major European supplier of microwave components and microwave manufacturing services'.
