IFR has increased the speed of its 2026A 2.05GHz signal generator's pulse modulator to 15ns

By replacing the pulse modulator in the 2026A, IFR has increased the speed of the pulse modulation rise and fall time to meet the measurement needs of radar, antenna and electronic countermeasures (ECM) applications. Unlike competitive instruments, the 2026 RF signal generators are the only RF signal generators that combine up to three signal generators in a single instrument.

The multisource generators save customers money, valuable rack space, and time spent calibrating and combining separate signal sources.

The 2026A with Option 118 provides fast pulse modulation along with the ability to configure two or three independent carriers.

Option 118 offers on/off ratios typically greater than 80dB with a rise and fall time of 15ns typical.

The 15ns rise and fall time pulse capability can be delivered on each of the two or three individual outputs or on the single output of the internal combiner.

Each signal source can be controlled independently in both frequency and level, and each has its own amplitude, frequency, phase and pulse modulation capability.

All parameters can be entered from the front panel keyboard and a rotary control can be used to adjust most settings.

I The 2026A with Option 118 is ideal for engineers involved in the design and manufacture of pulse receivers for military and commercial applications.

Option 118 is designed for ECM testing of pulse receivers, such as radar, or for testing antenna diversity.

In systems with antenna diversity, two or more antenna and receiver blocks are used to receive the same off-air signal and the system is designed to select the strongest of the signals and respond to it.

An example is IFF (identify friend or foe) systems fitted to aircraft where one of the antennas typically does not have a line-of-sight view of the ground transponders.

The 2026A with Option 118 can be used to route separate carriers, each carrying pulse modulation, into the receivers at the same carrier frequency.

The signal level to each receiver can be independently adjusted to check for correct antenna changeover.
