Interface Concept is introducing a 6U/VME Fast and Gigabit managed Ethernet switch - the ComEth3300b - particularly suited for air and conduction-cooled applications. This highly integrated Layer 2+ Ethernet switch provides up to 30 Ethernet channels: 24 rear Fast Ethernet ports (10/100TX), and six gigabit Ethernet ports (four rear 10/100/1000Mbit/s and two front 10/100/1000BT or SX/TX).
The 24 Fast Ethernet channels are routed on rear P2 connector; four Gigabit Ethernet channels are available on rear P0 connector and the two other Gigabit Ethernet ports are available on the front panel with copper (RJ45) or fibre (MTRJ) interfaces.
In the dual configuration, the Gigabit transceivers automatically select the medium (copper or fibre) with activity.
According to the selected fibre transceiver, the ComEth3300b provides a SX or LX interface.

The ComEth3300b is a genuine Plug and Play Layer 2 switch due to its auto-crossover, auto-polarity, auto-negotiation and automatic MAC address management capabilities.
The ComEth3300b supersedes the ComEth3300 and is fully upward compatible with the latter.
This new switch is more powerful as it provides more Gigabit Ethernet ports and adds some L2 enhanced functions such as port aggregation, traffic rate shaping, etc ComEth3300b products are proposed as end-user switches with IC's SwitchWare embedded software, and act as full Layer 2/3 managed switches.
They can be managed and monitored from a browser, PC Windows application or optionally SNMP.
This switch is powered by a PowerPC.
Software updates can be downloaded and stored in Flash memory.
The Enhanced Switchware package provides additional Layer 3 routing functions, allowing local IP forwarding (IPv4/ IPv6), static and dynamic protocols (RIP, OSPF) routing, proxy-ARP and DHCP-relay.
These L3 functions are usable through a CLI interface.
The ComEth3300b combines in a single equipment a Layer 2+ switch and a Layer3 router.
