Interface Concept has unveiled a new high-performance VME single board computer based around the Freescale 1.7GHz MPC7448 PowerPC

This low power PowerPC design provides 1Gbyte of SDRAM-DDR with ECC. Both fast NOR and large NAND Flash memories are implemented onboard. This processor board is ideal for use in defence, industrial automation and medical imaging applications requiring high-performance processing. The IC-e6-VMEa runs as a system controller or a standard single slot board.

Automatic detection can be used with the VME64x backplane.

The VMEbus interface is based on a combination of the Tundra Tsi148 VME bridge and the latest generation of Texas Instrument transceivers.

The 2eSST (two-edge source synchronous transfer) bus protocol capabilities provides up to 300Mbyte/s transfer rate across the VMEbus.

The board implements a Marvell Discovery III chipset (MV64460) to fill out the processor.

This solution includes major enhancements such as: data streaming on MPX bus, read memory latency and cache coherency improvements.

The MV64460 adds on-chip,2Mbit of high speed burst SRAM, two XOR DMA (useful for RAID, iSCSI) and four IDMA engines.

The IC-e6-VMEa supports three gigabit Ethernet channels, one console port, one USB2 controller (once combined with a hub function, it can provide three high/full speed ports).

A quad UART provides four additional asynchronous channels available on P2 connector.

The 64bit PCI/PCI-X bridge allows the VME SBC to control two PMC mezzanine boards with the PnIO routed according to the VITA35.

Thanks to its SATA controller, the IC-e6-VMEa can manage directly four storage devices.

A 6U rear transition module (as an option), adds the connectors for two gigabit Etherenet RJ45s, USB2, four RS232/422 ports, two SATA connectors and an HD68 connector for the PMC I/O to complete the IC-e6-VMEa features.

An engineering kit (as an option) for debug is available.

From industrial to the most severe applications, the IC-e6-VMEa board can operates up to -40 to +75C.

The conduction-cooled version runs at 1.4GHz.

Operating systems supported are VxWorks and Linux.

onboard comprehensive firmware includes Uboot and provides a comprehensive power-on built in test booting and remote software downloading over Ethernet.
