Huber and Suhner has brought its Sencity Link SL60 wireless Ethernet bridge technology - ideal for use in towns and city centres, conservation areas or near to listed buildings - to the UK.

This follows the recent announcement that Ofcom has made the 60GHz band available licence free for fixed wireless links.

The Sencitylink technology is widely used in the many countries where the 60GHz band has already been authorised.

The company has made available three product variants offering speeds from 100Mbps to 320Mbps Full Duplex at distances of between 600m and 1.6km.

The SL60-401 Gigabit Ethernet bridge, for example, features a transmission capacity of 320Mbps Full Duplex and a range of up to 800m.

It measures 182 x 182 x 71mm, weighs 2,500g and is said to be easy to install.

Thanks to an oxygen absorption level of 60GHz, the SL60's immunity to interference allows many links to be deployed in the same area.

Also, since they are virtually invisible, the bridges are ideal for use in towns and city centres, conservation areas or near to listed buildings.

Applications include LAN extensions and last-mile connectivity.

They are also ideal for temporary applications such as those demanding the utility or emergency services, as well as sporting or entertainment events, disaster recovery, campus connectivity and redundant access.

Robin George, the company's product manager for the Sencity product range, said: 'Users can get totally secure and reliable connectivity at distances up to 1.6km with immunity against interference.

'In fact, anything possible with an Ethernet cable can be done with our wireless bridges,' he added.

To ensure UK users get the most out of its connectivity products, Huber and Suhner has appointed a specialist distributor - FWA Solutions - for the SL60 product range.
