Inelco Hunter offers the smallest and lightest high-speed, battery-driven thermal printer mechanism from Fujitsu

Released onto the market early June this product is ideal for space-restricted designs. The new printer targets handheld and portable devices, including those for POS, measuring and medical instrumentation and receipt printer applications. Measuring 67.5 x 31.5 x 18.5mm, the 2-inch FTP-628MCL701 print mechanism features a narrow-width frame to accommodate compact designs.

It can be mounted either vertically or horizontally to offer flexible mounting options.

The mechanism weighs 40g.

With a variable, 4.2VDC to 8.5V operating range, the FTP-628MCL701 is capable of a maximum print speed of 80mm/sec at 8.5V.

It has a print resolution of 8 dots/mm for clear, hard copy output.

The printer has a 48mm effective printing area and accommodates various, 58mm-wide thermal papers from 60 to 100 micrometers thick.

Its removable platen exposes the paper path for drop-in paper loading.

The printer features several built-in detection functions, including motor over-current protection, paper-out/near-end, and abnormal thermal head temperature.

The printer has an expected operating life of 100 million pulses or 50km of paper.

The RoHS-complaint FTP-628MCL701 printer mechanism is available immediately.

Inelco Hunter offers a standard range of driver boards to accompany its printers, including serial or USB connections, along with drivers supporting WIN2K/NT/CE.NET and Linux.

For higher quantity projects, customised boards or chip set solutions are also available.
