Processing perfects VoIP platform

DiamondWare has embedded HelloVoice into its Palantir communications solution to increase robustness and sound quality

Palantir is DiamondWare's collaborative communications product that provides secure instant messaging, presence and availability, voice, conferencing, and unique processing such as 3D positioning and voice colourising for improved speaker identification and intelligibility. It now scales up to 60 simultaneous users on a 1GHz P3, making it inexpensive to deploy in SOHO and SME markets.

Palantir integrates HelloSoft's G.167 acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) to meet customer expectations of audio quality.

The AEC can handle echo tails up to 250ms, a typical worst-case for speakerphones, efficiently cancelling the acoustic feedback without audible artefacts like clipping.

DiamondWare has also committed to integrating HelloSoft's voice activity detection algorithm to improve overall system performance.

Future versions of Palantir will migrate to the other world-class technologies in HelloVoice.

HelloVoice is suite of voice-processing technologies from HelloSoft, consisting of DSP, packet handling, protocol and quality of service components to implement VoIP on devices ranging from inexpensive IP phones to high-end gateways.

It is available in various combinations of DSP and CPU platforms or completely on a single RISC processor-which is ideal for IP phone or voice over WLAN applications.

'We are assembling a converged VoIP solution based on the most advanced technologies available.

Where we don't have a piece, we are seeking the best of breed.

HelloSoft's voice processing will help us deliver the kind of product that can win in the market', said Keith Weiner, CEO of DiamondWare.

'They have a proven track record, and we know they will be here to support us in the future as VoIP becomes a mass market, and as the industry consolidates', he added.

'DiamondWare's military-proven collaborative technology has won several industry awards, and this demonstrates the capability of their team and product offerings', stated Krishna Yarlagadda, CEO of HelloSoft.

'We are delighted to be able to enhance their unique conferencing product, and look forward to a successful partnership'.
