One of the Far East's fastest growing LCD manufacturers has signed a franchise distribution agreement with GD Technik

One of the Far East's fastest growing LCD manufacturers, United Radiant Tecchnology Corp (URT), has signed a franchise distribution agreement with specialist UK design-in distributor, GD Technik. With four factories in Taiwan and one in China URT is a major player in displays in the Far East.

The company is now looking to expand its presence in Europe and so has appointed the technical specialist GD Technik, who will stock the company's full range of character and graphic LCD modules, LCD panels and touch panels.

"The combination of URT technology and GD Technik design-in expertise will create a strong business base for both companies", said Maurice Banting, GD Technik's Director of Marketing.

"Existing customers targeted from our design database have already shown interest.

As we widen our activities, I expect great interest in the complete solution we have to offer.

While we were looking to add a specialist display manufacturer to our design-in portfolio, URT was looking for proven distributors who could help it build its business in Europe.

Around 15% of URT's global business is in Europe and, with our help, the company is looking to significantly increase this figure".

From simple monochrome dot matrix type LCD modules right through to full colour STN LCD graphics panels, URT produces a full range of LCD products for applications ranging from mobile phones and pagers to instrumentation and medical equipment.

Technologies embraced include surface mount, chip-on-board, chip-on-glass, chip-on film and tape-automated bonded.

"While the range of standard off-the-shelf product is noteworthy, what is even more impressive is URT's flexibility and willingness to produce very cost effective custom solutions", said Banting.

"Volume is not an issue with URT when it comes to a custom solution, unlike the majority of display manufacturers who don't want to know unless the numbers are high enough".
