New from GD Technik, the Vibratto range of single chip DVD multimedia processors integrate video DACs and a NTSC/Pal TV encoder, together with ESS Technology's programmable multimedia processor (PMP) architecture, reducing system cost and increasing design efficiency. Keith Jackson, GD Technik's Technical Director said: "The DVD market is expanding at a record pace. Cahners In-Stat Group recently forecast that the global market will reach 60 million units in 2004, up from 18 million units sold in 2000.

Adding features and reducing system costs are critical factors driving the consumer market.

The Vibratto family of single chip DVD solutions ideally matches the requirements of this market".

The Vibratto family consists of four different products supporting DVD standards, providing advanced features that include progressive scan output, DVD audio, MP3, Kodak Picture CD capability and Internet web browsing.

The devices' PMP architecture includes two advanced embedded processors, a 32bit reduced instruction set (RISC) CPU for general system management and a 64bit digital signal processor (DSP) for audio/video and graphics acceleration.

The fully flexible programmable core allows for future upgrades, changing features and applications to match system requirements.

The Vibratto comes in a 208-pin plastic quad flatpack (PQFP) package.
