GE Plastics Specialty Film and Sheet has appointed Saint Chamond-based Micel Industrie as a new distributor of its high-performance Ultem films for electrical and electronic applications

Micel, which distributes electrical and thermal insulating products and films, as well as adhesive tapes, among other products, will distribute the GE films throughout France. GE's Ultem films are made from the company's Ultem polytherimide (PEI) resin. 'We are honoured to represent GE as a distributor of Ultem films and look forward to a long-term partnership', said Pascal Nadobny, President of Groupe Micel.

'GE materials are known as some of the best in the world, and they will help to significantly enhance our offerings'.

'GE's Ultem films deliver an outstanding combination of technical innovation and cost-effectiveness for a wide range of applications'.

Founded in 1947, Micel (Materiels Isolants pour la Construction Electrique) today specialises in distribution and converting of technical materials for electrical and thermal insulation, power supply, and assembly within the automotive, electrical/electronic, wire and cable, and thermal industries.

The privately held firm employs 120 employees and maintains plants in seven cities in Europe.

The GE family of Ultem films provides high-performance properties, including: high dielectric strength for insulation applications; low dielectric constant and dissipation factors; high modulus; good tear strength; and low moisture absorption.

They are used as substrates for electrical insulation, flexible printed circuits, shielding for electronic devices, loudspeaker cones and coils, and labeling systems.

Micel will carry and convert the entire line of Ultem films, encompassing Ultem 1000 and Ultem 5000 grades.

Ultem resin is a high-performance, inherently flame-retardant GE product that offers excellent thermal properties, good chemical resistance, and exceptional dimensional stability and impact strength.

It is widely used as a material of choice for aircraft and passenger train interiors, fire fighter helmets, automotive components, healthcare devices, and other applications where extreme toughness and performance are required.

This popular, workhorse material is available to GE customers worldwide.
