TVS devices protect against lightning-induced voltages, electrical switching surges, electrostatic discharge and other sporadic voltage and current surges

Focus EDL's appointment by leading discretes manufacturer EIC gives its customers access to what is recognised as the industry's widest range of transient voltage suppressors (TVS). With the trend towards lower voltages and higher integration, particularly in MOS devices and low power ICs, TVS devices are increasingly necessary for protection against overvoltage situations.

They are used in a wide variety of applications such as power supplies, lighting ballast, personal computers, and telecom infrastructure.

According to Focus EDL's Managing Director, EIC offers a complete range of transient voltage suppressors from 400 to 15,000W.

'With more than 4500 different product types in nine packages, we are able to give engineers the choice of a second source to the products from many other manufacturers', says Philpot.

'And at a time when other manufacturers are experiencing supply problems, we should deliver in only 3 weeks'.

EIC also offers a range of automotive TVSS designed specifically to suppress the combination of high voltage and high energy transients.

There are alternator load-dump transients, potentially the most destructive surges in today's automotive systems.

TVS devices help engineers to ensure that their designs are protected against lightning-induced voltages, electrical switching surges, electrostatic discharge and other sporadic voltage and current surges.

The TVS product portfolio includes products with peak pulse power ratings from 400 to 15,000W and breakdown voltages from 6.12 to 462V.

All specifications in the range are available in both unidirectional and bidirectional versions.

TVS products are offered in a variety of space saving surface mount packages, including SMA/B/C for up to 3000W and D2PAK for 5000W and 6600W; plus a variety of through-hole axial lead packages.

All products meet the company's strict criteria for high quality and reliability and are RoHS compliant as standard.
