Lane Electronics has expanded the production and assembly of the ITW McMurdo Edgecard PCB connector range.

Designers looking for modular edge connectors will be aware that Viking Interconnection Systems ceased production towards the end of 2009, depriving customers of a reliable supply of edge connectors, particularly the VMA series of 0.100in (2.54mm) pitch modular edge connectors.

Lane said it is producing VMA-equivalent edge connectors under its ITW McMurdo brand and, since manufacture and assembly is onsite, lead times are short.

The Edgecard connectors are intermateable with other similar pitch connectors and can be supplied with fixed or replaceable contacts and cut to any size from five to 85 contacts single-sided, or 10 to 170 double-sided.

They can be fitted with cantilever or bifurcated contacts, are suitable for vapour phase soldering and offer a choice of three termination styles - discrete wire, straight PC and wire wrap.
