Available now from Falcom is the A2D-SI-900/1800(1900) combined GSM/GPRS/GPS embedded OEM module.

The device combines a fully type approved dual-band GSM/GPRS 900/1800(1900) core with 12-channel GPS state-of-the-art technology ino an optimised form factor of 95 x 50 x 15mm.

The A2D-SI-900/1900 version is FCC (USA, part 15) compliant.

The integrated SIM card reader, power supply circuitry and EMC/ESD protection as well as the optimised interfaces allow the creation of very compact, low power and cost effective solutions for vertical markets.

The GPS core is based on the SiRFstarII chipset and offers superior TTFF acquisition rate (less than 45s, cold start) combined with low power consumption (less than 40mA, default trickle power mode).

The GSM/GPRS core is software compatible with the popular Falcom A2D(L) and CM2C modules as well as with Wavecom WM2C-2 and WMO3i devices.

The Falcom A2D-SI enables system partners and OEMs to quickly upgrade existing platforms or create completely new applications with substantially improved price/performance ratio offering low design-in risk and high level of repeatability of the design.

Substantial reduction of the "time-to-market" period for new products and timely return on investment is the result of using the A2D-SI platform in plenty of mobile navigation and security applications.

Design engineers are supported by a complete evaluation hardware and software kit.
