LAN switch cuts notebook parts count
The FSAL200 LAN switch from Fairchild Semiconductor allows multiplexing/demultiplexing of fast LAN signals in notebook computers, routers, hubs, switches and other LAN applications
In the past, notebook docking stations contained an extra Ethernet controller and PHY chip for multiplexing/demultiplexing of LAN signals. With Fairchild's FSAL200 LAN switch, these extra parts are eliminated. "Fairchild's FSAL200 enables laptop designers to switch the PHY's analogue transmit/receive pairs to either the laptop's or docking bay's LAN connector.

Fairchild's FSAL200 quad 2:1 CMOS TTL-compatible multiplexer/demultiplexer operates from 3.0 to 5.5V, with rail-to-rail signal operation.
This device provides users with a high, 137MHz typical bandwidth that can route fast Ethernet, Token Ring, ATM25, Sonet and other LAN signals.
The FSAL200's low 6ohm on-resistance allows inputs to be connected to outputs without adding propagation delay or generating additional ground-bounce noise.
Pricing begins at $1.50.
This pricing is based on 1000-piece quantities in 16-lead QVSOP.
